I have my own SIM card installed in my late 18 Macan. Everything works fine when the ignition is on and my iPhone and iPad operate ok. However if you try and use these devices when the ignition is turned off the internal Wi-Fi network still operates until the car powers down the radio to save the battery. However power to the SIM card must be turned off immediately so iPhone and iPad will not connect to internet. Only work around seems to be disabling the Wi-Fi on these devices.
Anybody else found this and a solution to keep the network and SIM up and running without the ignition operating ?
Internal Wi-Fi blocks iPhone when Ignition turned off
In my Gen 1 the wifi hotspot works with the ignition off.
One suggestion for you - use the iPhone as the wifi hotspot for the iPad. The sim in the car is only 3G whereas the phone is 4G and when I ran Speedtest on both the 4G was 5x faster than the 3G plus I have way more data on the phone vs the car sim. Would that work?
