That can work two ways. In my book, if someone turns up in tatty old banger, I wonder why they can't afford something decent. However, if they turn up in something smart, then i assume they are successful. If you rip people off, you are generally not going to be successful. I'm pretty good at spotting the character of most people in various trades. As for OPC's and other major dealerships, they are like restaurants, you pay for the expertise of the chef and the surroundings not just the food. I'm not defending OPC's and if ,for instance, they try the brake pad story on you, you are entitled to ask for the original parts back if they carry out the work. If you are really paranoid, mark the parts before you take the car in.

20 for hire car for two days
£20 for hire car? What’s that for? I’ve never been charged for a courtesy car. I am just asked to replace the fuel I use, which is of course fair enough.
The clue is in the title :)

I have never needed one before as I would drop off first thing, train to work and pick up end of day.

This time they wanted it for two days and I am working from home so waited an extra month for a hire car slot. £10 a day apparently.

On the flip side I used about £25 of fuel and didn’t have time to stop at a garage prior to my 12.30 pick up slot (they closed at 1). I admitted this and offered to pay on CC but they said don’t worry.

Just looked at the tyre sealant kit (it is kept in the side compartment of the boot) and it’s a standard VAG part not even white labelled as Porsche.

£72 or £30 on eBay

Possibly ........ if you are spending £150,000 on a 911 then paying £5,000 for a service and brakes etc. is not too unreasonable.

Paying the same £5,000 service cost for a £40,000 SUV is not so easy to swallow.

Does anyone know if the Audi Q5 is expensive to service??

Like others, I hate getting ripped off - or feeling that I am being ripped off.

I would hope no one had paid £150k for a Macan either, unless of course your a member of the UAE royal family and your macan is gold plated and bejazzled

I will be very surprised (flabbergasted :D :D ) if no one has ever had a service/repair bill from Porsche OPC that is more than £5,000.

We should perhaps start a new thread .....highest OPC bill.....all models allowed :D :D

You could easily get a 5k bill if you got a big service plus replaced all discs and pads at an OPC, and filled the washer fluid :)

But anyone sensible get brakes double checked to see if they really need doing and if they do they get a trusted indie to do it

My 2018 Gts is booked in for an oil leak on the timing belt cover in a couple of weeks.
Repair bill comes in at just under £6k, luckily covered by the warranty !!
