It was the frame of mind I was in when seeing the headline and then expecting some comment on road tax

I agree, when i first heard the phrase i too had to look it up to actually understand it.

Somethings with Porsche servicing you can swallow but sometimes like the OP says, they really do take the piss!!!

Im guessing they are sooooooo used to it, its the norm and they think nothing else of it other than as its a Porsche “You can Afford it”
Like me its not about being able to afford it, its more value for money/common sense of which The service centre staff use very little of.

In my personal opinion, just like hotel mini bars, if the prices were a little more consumer/customer friendly, I’m 100% sure they would have more business


I’ve just had a minor service and 2 year warranty renewal on my Macan, I'm thinking maybe in 2 years when its 8 years old, ill be going specialist servicing as the value of the car will finally not warrant a £2k service bill. (Major, brake fluid, warranty, etc)

I think they also play on the expectations of those buying a used Porsche, who prefer a vehicle that has a full Porsche service history.

Have you noticed you also get "porsche tax" if you have one sitting on the drive and tradesmen come to quote. Best idea is to hide it away.
An electrician quoted £950 to run armoured cable from one shed to another.

Friend of mine never uses his expensive cars when he goes out to do a quote.
He says people assume they are being ripped off to pay for his motors!!

That’s good - I paid 660 for large service plus 160 for brake fluid change so 820 without and MOT

There again I pay both Porsche tax and London tax

Small victories but it shouldn’t be a battle. Standard MO seems to be “can afford a Porsche, they will bend over without question”

May i ask - which Porsche Centre did you go to?

I went to East London for service once and asked for pano roof to be cleared and they did it free without questions asked. But would not update my sat nav because they believe there wasnt an updated version - this was in 2019.

2nd service i went to Brooklands - i asked for Pano-roof to be cleared and they said they have to charge me - so thankyou - but no thankyou!! - £299 for checking and clearing.

The reason i went to Brooklands was because i thought that they could update my sat nav - because im still running on a 2016/17 map.

However, they requested for a charge of £550 for the update - again thanks - but no thanks!!

I also asked them to clear my water sprayer for my wipers - and adjust it so its shooting at the windscreen rather than onto my Pano-Roof.

They said its was done when i collected my car - but a day after collecting - when i had to use the water sprayer on the motorway - i realise it was exactly the same!!! Spraying high into the air.

They asked me to change the brake pads and disk because it was 90% worn - I told them that i wait for the lights to come on - 3000mile after - lights came on once and now its not on - i assume that the lights should stay on if its really low. Already looking into buying the parts myself and getting local mechanic to install for me.

They also told me that theres a slight oil leak found - and they would need my car for 1 week to check and amend - this will be part of warranty. Planning to deal with this at later stage since i have extended my warranty.

£20 for hire car? What’s that for? I’ve never been charged for a courtesy car. I am just asked to replace the fuel I use, which is of course fair enough.

I remember being told my car needed new brakes the first time I took it into my local OPC. It took literally a year (And my wife does 15-20k miles a year!) for the pad sensor to wear through!
