Once I’d picked myself off the floor I figured it must be a mistake so phoned Esure up to see what the real figure would be - only to be told that they could actually now offer me the same cover for the even lower price of £375! This I duly accepted ASAP before they changed their mind or the dream ended!

Surely, there must be something wrong with the world if people are paying less for car insurance - maybe it’s the lack of driving during lockdown with the knock on reduction in claims, perhaps my age is the least accident prone or it could even be there’s nobody left who hasn’t claimed for whiplash etc! I don’t know, but I’ll certainly take advantage before things get back to normal again👍
Insurance is still a minefield in my experience. Mine was due on 01 June. Last year my brand new GTS had a cheaper premium than my 3 yr old SD. :!:

This year the renewal from the same insurer was 203% more! Getting a brand new quote from the same insurer was 7% lower than last year!!!

So £351 inc. Legal & Protected NCD & EU for 180 days & Unisured driver cover & Free replacement key cover & £300 personal belongings. Then I checked their multi-car quote and actually paid £326 for the GTS.....go figure. :o

Blimey, that does sound like a minefield Steve but looks a good result you’ve ended up with👍

LV quoted me £356.47 based on a £73K GTS.
This is about £150 less than the last quote I received about 7 months ago, also from LV.
Incredible.
Such a shame I can't get a slot for the GTS :(

Edit: Direct Line: £423:25 for Comprehensive or £472.99 for Comprehensive Plus
The latter provides an equivalent size hire car, greater personal insurance cover and Motor Legal cover.
Previously owned:

Thanks Bazza06 + hope you get a GTS slot soon👍

Looks like insurance premiums certainly are coming down - so with that and the 2nd hand value of my Macan increasing, those factors should just about pay for any increase in the price of the facelift Macan when it’s announced - should I be tempted by one! ;)

PS….I was quoted approx £410 to insure a new GTS which is less than I’m currently paying for my nearly 5 yr old SD!

I switched, in May, from Privilege (good, Inc replacement with new up to 2yr old) to LV as the £286 was too good to pass up. That said, it's a multicar deal so there's also £133 for a Twinair involved. Perhaps it's coz I've got 9 pts and have to behave!

I hate insurance renewal time - I did consider going multi-car this year but it worked out more expensive than individual policies because of the nature of the fleet.

When I bought the 928 I spoke to the 911 insurer because they said they would be keen to help - turns out they weren't that keen.

For a car worth a 1/3 of the value of the 911 and doing 1/5 of the mileage, they wanted £200 per year more- about £900!

Found somebody in the end for £250!

Still beats me how one company can be £900 and another £250 for what seems the same insurance service but glad you saved a lot Tracky👍

It makes no sense whatsoever, the more I see the harder it is to believe! It's the drivers that need insuring and no claims discounts not the bloody cars! Arrgggh now you've got me started....

Totally agree with you. But on the other side of the coin, if we as drivers have a glitch, all insured cars will be affected. More arrgggh.
