The diesel is a fantastic engine, I'd thoroughly recommend it.

it's a definite YES, why would you not wont 42mpg plus , enough torque to pull a rice pudding, in real road usage terms as fast as any Macan out there, together with the handing abilities of all Macans?

If you’re going to mostly use the car for short urban runs, then NO don’t buy a diesel.

Hi

Thanks for the reply's, seems 60/40 against a diesel, but seems some of you with one really like it!! I certainly don't do a lot of miles, as use a Honda Jazz for any 'dodgy' places (parking) but on the plus side there are lots more available diesels and they are a lot cheaper. I think if I found a really good diesel with some nice extras for a fair price, i'd go for it.

Don't be put off by the need for a long journey to clear the DPF. I had the warning come on during lockdown and just drove on the local dual carriageway in manual mode holding the revs above 2000 for 15 minutes and cleared no problem.

If you already have a car for local journeys a diesel Macan for longer runs is a practical choice. Actually an electric car would be in its ideal use case as the second car for short local trips. My petrol S is just about run in and normally gets 30 – 32 mpg on a moderate length run so while it’s less economical than the diesel it’s not far off.
