Squeaking steering wheel…

Hi

Hoping someone can help. I’ve had my Macan GTS 2017 for a month or so now and just noticed today that the steering wheel makes a squeaking (almost electrical squeaking) kind of noise when moving the wheel side to side.

I don’t think it’s there every time I drive it but definitely noticed it today and really annoying.

Any ideas?

A very common issue. If it was dealer supplied your OPC should be able to sort it under warranty either by lubrication or by replacement parts in the steering column.

Yes dealer supplied. Would it be covered under the approved used warranty?

Do you know what is causing it? Mine makes a slight squeak if you move the wheel slightly when stationary. I also noticed it a few weeks ago at very slow speed maneuvering in a car park after a long drive up to Scotland.

Mine does it occasionally too, but not enough to prompt the OPC into repairing it. I believe it's caused by a dry bearing in the steering column. Some have been fixed with lubrication, others have had steering column replacements.
