Thinking of getting an S and I just wondered what is the real MPG for these vehicles. I know it will depend on how you drive it and what sort of driving you do, but what can you expect on average driving around suburbs, fairly free flowing, and what would you get on a long motor journey at a fairly constant speed. Finally, am I right in saying that the additional fuel in a S is really worth the additional performance.
Thanks
Real MPG
23–24mpg round town & 30–32mpg on long run is about what I get out of my petrol 2017 S , I have Never driven a 2 ltr Macan so can’t compare. I had a Honda CRV before & didn’t get a lot more out of that, but with the Macan S I get many more smiles per mile
2017 Macan S, Carrara White Metallic, Agate Grey Leather, 21” 911 Turbo Design wheels.
Since owning my 2020 S last November, my overall average has been 25 mpg, which is based on mainly round town trips, with a few shortish (20 mile) motorway runs.
The worst mpg was in the winter, when the average was 20.5, but as the weather has warmed up, I’m now averaging around 28 mpg.
I keep a record of mpg using the full brim to full brim refills method......I’m sad I know
Like @Toddie, I haven’t driven a 2 ltr Macan to compare, though my previous 2 ltr Audi Q5 averaged 33 mpg over nearly three years ownership.......however, the Macan is much more fun to drive

2019 S here and my results are pretty much in line with the above
Local short hops - v low 20s, 20.5 at worst
Mid length runs -23 to 25 mpg
Long runs, constant speed - 31 mpg
We have the 2.0 engine in our Golf and its a cracking engine.... but the 6 cylinder sound and extra grunt of the 3.0 in my S made my mind up. I would not trade it for a few extra MPG.
Whichever you decide on will be a great car.

I typically get around 27-28 on each tankful of my Macan S (brim to brim calculated!).
This compares to 29-30 on my previous Macan 2 litre.
So not a huge difference between the two engines - its worth going for the 3 litre.

I've had my 2020 GTS just over 11 months and the best tankful has been 31.02mile/g and the worst 25.96. I don't use the car around town. The values of a 2020 GTS are relevant to the OP's question because any S ordered now will have the 2.9L engine rated at the same 375bhp.

The right foot is more of a factor here than the engine.
We used to have a 2.2D Mazda CX-5 which was well known for good economy. But it was gutless and I had to thrash it everywhere to get any vague enjoyment from driving it, our mpg was poor.
Now we have a 3.6litre Macan Turbo PP - even at half throttle it's got more power than the Mazda did with my foot buried in the carpet. If I only use half throttle, the economy is about the same.
