Got a further call from my dealer this morning and I am not a happy bunny. My 2.0 was originally meant to leave factory on 15th September and last week changed to 15th October. Today I am told it has changed again to 26th November. I now regret selling my car in August. I have now lost confidence as for all I know I might get a call next week to say it’s slipped again to December or January.
Sorry to hear this, Mark. Do the OPC give any specific reason for the production delays that your Macan is suffering?

Well that sucks. We all feel for you, especially as we’re all mainly in the same boat.
Just read an article on the Beeb saying how new car sales are down massively. Doesn’t seem to be the case at Porsche. Interestingly sales of electric cars last month were the same as the whole of 2019!

My dealer just keeps blaming semi conductor shortages.

I suspect Porsche new car registrations are well down although order books are probably very healthy.

I don’t know if that’s entirely true or just a convenient catch-all these days for any delay.

Did you have anything a bit left field fitted out of curiosity?

I suspect it’s a convenient excuse.
For what? And why would they? Car manufacturers globally are suffering production delays due to semiconductor shortages and Porsche is no exception. Historically Porsche have had lengthy (compared with others) lead times but have always been open and pretty accurate with that, and it’s one reason why used values are so good. So I think it’s false to say that Porsche are sloppy with delivery predictions and will use any excuse to justify it.

i’m not saying there isn’t a shortage, what I am saying is that Porsche, and other manufacturers, can use it as an excuse to cover a plethora of ineptitude.
