Ultimately if someone wants to nick you car they will. Frankly, at the moment, I think having your catalytic converter nicked is a bigger problem.
I need somebody nick the Cat off my lotus as they have both gone - I can then do an insurance claim

Not sure it is a quick job though !

Just to add, the £5 key pouches from Halfords work just fine. I've got one of those and the larger £10 one that's big enough for a phone.

Both prevent any kind of relay attack.

I've had keyless entry cars since 2005 without issue, only recently got a pouch as the tin we were using somehow stopped being effective. Worth re-testing periodically.

This sounds very interesting. Do you have a link or more info please? PM if you prefer.
Thank you

I installed this. EXTREMELY LOUD!

Set up as quick action on my phone through HIVE plug in switch. CAUTION - it will wake the whole street up! Used in factories for fire alarms. Borderline legal for home use but hey - they can caution me when the immediate danger has gone 👍

When I was 17 i had a Honda Dream Twin ( 125cc ) and put airhorns on it. You should have seen people jump when they cut me up. 🤣

Most people (me included!) are used to/ignore standard alarms (car or house) and as they are limited to dB output they are almost useless.

If I see or hear someone outside and set this baby off I can guarantee everyone within a 5 mile radius will be looking through their windows😜.

And you can guarantee the ‘grey tracksuit bottomed , hoody wearing fraternity’ will crap themselves when this starts up! 😉
Found this one on eBay for around £80 so snaffled it up.

Placed in garage which tends to act as an amplified speaker through the garage door!!

Warn the neighbours when you are setting up/checking it - and wear ear protection!!!

One of the advantages of the Macan for me when I was car shopping was that, unlike all the competitors I was considering, it could be ordered without keyless entry – which I did. Mine has a (non-traditional) key, which I’m happy with.

The 2022 model can still be ordered without Keyless Entry although it’s now called Comfort Access costing £455. They also say, to cover themselves:

“Note: The Comfort Access uses state of the art technology. However, it cannot be completely ruled out that the key´s wireless encryption code is intercepted and used to open or steal the vehicle”

When I ordered my 2020 Macan the salesman at Hull's OPC warned against adding the wireless entry option.

I've had it on previous cars (GLC 63S, F-Pace) and kept the key in a Faraday pouch: now I don't miss it at all but still keep my regular key in the pouch!

When it comes to vehicle theft, you are in the hands of the type of thief you encounter.

Those with the relay attack equipment, will generally focus on the easy target, the cars their equipment can access and the ease at which they can reach the vehicle and remove it.

You then have the thieves that will look to burgle premises to access the vehicle key. Some will do this when the premises are empty or the residents asleep. They do not want to create attention or have any interaction with occupants.

Unfortunately, there are now increasing cases of "steaming", where multiple thieves, will "rush" the front door when opened and use violence and aggression to force the owner to disclose the key location.
These thieves will rarely care about the time of day, attention created or harm caused.

Personally, I would rather have a car stolen via relay attack and not have my home violated.
