What they could do is slot in the Golf R engine - 235 kw (316 hp) and 420 NM torque and add a few bling things ( 20”) wheels, sports chrono and price it half way bewteen the base and the S and voila a desirable T. With the new S engine the performance gap between the base and S has grown a bit to warrant another version in between.

They could do that, as a kind of half way point between a base and an S, but I think those improvements would take it pretty close to the S in price, unless Porsche cut their profit margin (which seems unlikely)

Plus, such a model would not fit the T ethos, of using the ‘base’ engine of the range, and cutting a little weight.

The other models are sports cars = 911, Boxster & Cayman

There is no Cayenne or Panamera T.

Yet

Like I say, we’ll see... But it would require a significant change in direction of the T ethos at Porsche...

Would love to know if the person who told you about the forthcoming Macan T has any more info...

He wouldn't tell me more than that. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

And without quoting another of your replies, I know the ethos is to put the base engine in, but I said they SHOULD put the 2.9 engine in.

I haven't been on this forum for a while, and after seeing this thread I'm glad to have been absent. Call me a skeptic but somehow I don't think the Macan T is going to be a reality - don't think it's the boldest prediction I've ever made.

Good to see some old friends still posting on here though.
