This is probably a dumb question but if you buy tyres from Camskill who do you get to fit them?

I have posted this image before but it is appropriate to include it again.

When I got this puncture it was in the Lake District, no mobile coverage and it was late in the afternoon.

Put on the spare and got to Kendal Porsche before they closed where I left the wheel/tyre and slowly drove home.

Next day a pick up collected my Macan and a rental Merc was dropped of by Porsche assist’s contracted hire company.

It took 5 days before they were able to get a new tyre.

Hated driving the Merc C class, cheap and nasty interior, cr4p seats but the ride was not bad but way harder than my Macan.

Most tyre places will fit tyres you buy elsewhere, they’ll just charge you a fitting fee. Fitting fee is usually around £20-30 a tyre.

Places like kwik fit or Halford probably wont but TBH I’ve never asked them. You can some times save around £100 a corner doing it that way.

My recent rear cost £22 more than the Camskill price but included fitting. That was with Hawleys a longstanding local business, now part if the Protyre setup. I guess I should add the cost of replacing the cheap and nasty dust cap they put on! One down to experience :)

Col Lamb wrote: Mon Aug 16, 2021 2:54 pm Five years in with Macan ownership and I get in the car to have the tyre low pressure warning go off.

This is the third time that I have had a puncture with the Macan’s and each time it has been to the nearside rear.

Had a good look but cannot see any nail or nick.
So what was the outcome this time Col?

Well I arranged for Preston Porsche to collect my Turbo to give it an MOT and to check out the tyre.

Yep, you probably guessed right a nail in the middle of the tread.

New tyre fitted so that makes 7 tyres fitted in five years, two due to nails and screws, one due to a sharp rock and four at 21,000 miles due to wear.

if the nail is in the middle of the tread it can usually be repaired with no real problem. Guess it depends on how comfortable you are driving on repaired tyres. Never had any issues with them myself

Bummer Col. Do you visit recycling centres a lot? Or reclaimed building material sites? Could be coincidence but last two screws in tyres we had followed shortly after tip visits. Thankfully not in Porsche tyres!

One was Simon, and was discovered while visiting OPC! Had to resort to emergency gunk to get us home. The other was in the Navara but I spotted it before it became a puncture.
