This bit from the Autocar review made me laugh : "The GTS, meanwhile, appears to be entering a gothic phase and has also broken out the black lip gloss."

Agree. They certainly seemed underwhelmed.OmniCognateSnr wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 7:33 amNot how I read it. They say there are faster and cheaper options and its felling its age and the haptic buttons aren’t great. Not saying I agree with them but I would say that review was damning with faint praise

Well I bet 90% of Macan drivers wouldn’t know if they had ptv or notpmg wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 10:47 amThey seem to like torque vectoring which a lot on here say is a waste of time!! Certainly, they are not keen on interior and make the point others now equal the performance which was probably not true when the original Turbo PP came out. However, they give it 4.5 out of 5 probably because cars like BMW X4M do not ride or handle anything like half as well.
I’ve never felt the need for it on the road and I driver ours hard

One of the others said “in tune with 2021 it seems to be wearing a face mask”. I thought that was quite good too
I will say all the reviews I have seen so far seem to be saying the same thing. The base Macan is a little underwhelming, the GTS is a bit OTT and the S is the sweet spot. They have also said hardly anything has change apart from a dubious front grill and plastic buttons nobody likes. They also say its too small in the back and doesn’t compete with cheaper cars on boot space or standard features.
Most of them then go on to say the Macan is still the best handling and most absorbing SUV on the market and none of its competitors even come close as a true “Sports” utility vehicle.
So in short, grumble grumble grumble, its excellent, grumble.
For me the fact that its a bit smaller than other SUV’s on the market is a major selling point. I don’t want to drive a bus. The fact that it hasn’t changed a great deal from the Gen 2 macan is, well, standard Porsche behaviour. The 911 still fundamentally looks like a beetle. And if you asked me to guess the age of any 911 over the last 20 years I frankly wouldn’t have a clue, because they are all pretty much identical, and yet people still keep buying them ( in droves ), I wonder why that is?

the Autocar review finishes with:-
"On the other hand, the march of progress has left the fastest Macan in a slight no-man’s land pricewise. The GTS starts at £64,770, making it faster and more expensive than warm SUVs like the BMW X3 M40i and Mercedes-AMG GLC 43, but a little behind the big league of the X3 M and GLC 63. Given how good the Macan GTS otherwise still is, that makes it reasonable value in a way but with mpgs in the 20s and plenty of opportunity to get robbed on the options list, so it’s not exactly a Dacia Duster."
It is primarily commenting on where it fits against competitors ranges and value based on price alone forgetting about depreciation. However they do state "Given how good the Macan GTS otherwise still is, that makes it reasonable value in a way" I would not describe that as not liking it

Macan also has low depreciation. WBAC currently values my GTS at £3k more than I paid for it 15 months ago. Tempting, but I'm not selling it though. Need to see a 2022 model in the metal to see if it has any advantages. In reality probably not based on the newest S and GTS' looks.
The Macan has great build quality. Reliability has been excellent on both of mine too.

looks aside, I’m not sure you’d gain a whole heap by going to a Gen 3. I’m new to Porsche so happy to be getting the “latest version” but I think the differences are so small its not worth “upgrading” if you have a gen 2. Only caveat being of you wanted to go from a gen2 gts to a gen 3 gts because you’r getting the performance of the gen 2 Turbo. But even then the difference in 0-60 between the new S and GTS is only 0.3 seconds. Nope, I’m not sold. I’d stick with what you’ve got.SAC1 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 5:20 pm Macan also has low depreciation. WBAC currently values my GTS at £3k more than I paid for it 15 months ago.
