Wing Commander wrote: Thu Sep 09, 2021 5:01 pm Well, the quote I had for a 2 year warranty back in December was £1,840 excluding roadside assistance.

Prior to any goodwill gesture, they mentioned £11,500 for supplying & fitting two new turbos! 😳

So, unless the ‘goodwIll gesture’ is worth over £9k...! ;)
Ouch!!! :o

Exactly! No way am I forking out anything remotely like that. And I’m very far from convinced that I actually need two brand new turbos. If the OPC carry on like this regarding cars out of warranty, I’ll be off to a friendly local indy Porsche specialist... ;)

P.S. Sorry for going ever so slightly off topic, Ron. ;)

I’ll continue this saga on the dedicated 911 Carrera T thread... :)

To be fair, Portsmouth never tried to push any of these extras, it was very straight forward dealing with them. Unlike Brooklands (roughly the same distance and I'd used them before for the warranty check), really tried it on including unnecessary spark plug and geabox oil changes for a mere £1,720
I'm just trying to decide whether to add gearbox and transfer box oil changes to my next service, for that cost maybe get them one at an indy.

Have to say that i've just had my recalls done at Colchester OPC which included a free inspection and no hard sell. They correctly identified my low tyres and worn brakes but were realistic about life left.

jk88 and Tim92gts. Good to hear that not all OPCs are out to rip us off. ;)

A stonking great repair bill has been proposed to me recently, for my just-out-of-warranty Carrera T. Negotiations are ongoing. I’ll update on my Carrera T thread in due course. :geek:
Just been looking at the comments about extended warranty, on the post from August, last month. Your comments about being the cost, and it's in the insurers favour. Your crystal ball was having a bad day then. But we can't alter time. :( :o

Ha ha! Well, due to the modifications on my 911, I think they’d try to wriggle out of many warranty claims in any event.

They spotted a seized turbo wastegate actuator, have not said how it got seized, and have diagnosed two brand new shiny turbos!?

My trust in them is gradually ebbing away... :(

Just booked my 4 year, 26k miles SD service. Quoted me £1,060 reduced to £906 when I said don't worry about the AdBlue!

Fixed price servicing gone by the board apparently, which is why I was expecting about £650 from memory?

Also mentioned not wanting a roof drain check and they offered to quote me separately. MOT an additional £54.

Hope I get a nice loan car, like a fully charged Taycan Turbo?

Good luck with that.

Last year I had a Golf as a loaner.

This year its only MOT and a winter check and again they did not offer anything, when pressed they said I would need to defer the MOT until they had a Golf available. I said a permanent goodbye to South Lakes Porsche and it is now booked in with my local Porsche dealer who will collect my car from home as they did for five years when we had a Mini, a home collection is far less hassle.

I've dealt with Porsche Solihull since 2006 and in all that time, they have always provided a Porsche, mainly Boxsters but the odd Cayman and even Cayenne on 2 occasions. Be interested to see what they come up with this time and if indeed, cost savings are being made in this department?

Is it deliberate "cost savings" or more shortage of stock with high used prices and lower deliveries of new vehicles due to semiconductor shortage? OPC's need to turn stock over to cover their cost of property and staff. ;)
