Apparently Audi is also fitting the same cam . . . does it cost £880 on an Audi?

I bought a dash cam for my previous car. It needed a micro-SD card, so I bought a 32Gb one with an SD converter. For what reason I don't understand, the micro-SD card would not work in my computer, my TV nor my Blu-Ray recorder - so I couldn't upload any footage if I wanted to. Any ideas ?

Try reformatting the card, see if that works.

This would be much better as a factory-fitted option properly wired in with neat electrics. That might even justify the high price. However, as far as I can gather, this is little different to other aftermarket cameras. The wiring needs tucked into the headlining and routed to the fusebox; this has the potential to look untidy or introduce squeaks or rattles somewhere.

This is why I have yet to get a dash cam. They generally look terrible and once your car trim has been removed and put back its never quite the same. The Macan I’ve ordered is covered in cameras and has a hole for external drives so it seems a bit bonkers you can’t just use the hardware that’s already there.

There again it is Porsche, so it will no doubt be a seven year development program before the spy shots were even released.
I agree with you on that. One would think that it would be fairly easy to incorporate it into the surround view option.
Also, when you consider the size of the camera lens on a smart phone I don’t know why they can’t fit a similar lens to the rear view mirror and hide the rest of the electronics in the rear view mirror housing or elsewhere.

Hitman999 wrote: Thu Sep 16, 2021 8:41 pm I enquired at my OPC and they said it’s not compatible with a 991.2 only the 992. Absolute rip off and it's only the front camera!
I have a 2019 992 CS and I think that the Porsche cam is only compatible with 2020 onward. But in any case I’ll be more likely to wait until it is out of warranty and perhaps have a Blackvue or similar fitted complete with back up battery considering all the battery problems I’ve had with the car since I bought it. I doubt that the Porsche cam includes installation of a back up battery.
