I know where I live has a large part to play, my previous address had a reduction of £400 a year vs my current address, with the change of location being the only difference.
Yeh surely must be location making that price so high. I ran a quote with Admiral for my wife whose car it’ll be (mid 30s, 7 years NCB & protected, 12k miles p/year, no claims and legal cover), came in at £432 for the year. Had to do the same as you and put the old GTS on the quote (we’ve got an S on order) but seemed reasonable price to me.
gender plays a part too. Us fellas are more of an insurance risk, can’t think why….

btw, use confused.com. It will give you Admiral insurance with the new S.
Thanks for the heads up!

Just thought I'd bring this thread up to date with my experience.

Just been quoted £406 by DirectLine my old insurers ( been carless since September ). Went onto GoCompare and only two, LV £476 and Saga £620, would quote.
I thought it strange as Worcestershire is low risk and I've been clean (honest Guv) since 2007. So I excluded all the added options from GC and now the whole world wants me. 83 quotes, lowest is MoreThan at £206 with LV at £327.

The only options that could possibly increase risk are the GT Steering wheel and Chrono - but double the premium ?

Why do you need to identify "Standard" options?

If you read the 'small print' you have to declare all additions to base spec, whether when new from the manufacturer or third party. If you haven't then read your policy documents carefully. I am more worried by an insurer rejecting a claim because I didn't tell them about something than Porsche refusing a warrany claim because they didn't change the oil.

I'm sure I recall the insurance company (Aviva, I think) telling me when I got the Macan mid-year that the built in options as delivered new just counted as standard. Post delivery changes would then need to be specified. Obviously these things will vary between companies and over time. Any way they can find to take more money of us will be fair game, that's not an attitude unique to Porsche, unfortunately :( However, I've since changed insurance company twice and never seen any interest or opportunity to go into that much detail.

That's always been my understanding of it.
Factory fit options are deemed standard.

All I can say is if you want a change from playing with the configurator spend a happy hour on DirectLine or GoCompare and see if your mileage varies. It could be that they think an old fart like me can't manage the extra leverage of a GT 911 steering wheel.

Gen2 on multi car policy due in June (Admiral).

Phoned to swap onto Gen3 for tomorrow and the cost was £7.50 including the £9.50 admin fee. So I’ve had a refund albeit marginal.

Price was £502 in June last year.

I had a quote from Admiral and they also wanted a list of all optional extras, factory fitted or otherwise. Wasn't the final spec and I still don't have the car so will shop around in due course.

Always been that way with my cars. I think if you start adding standard options they’ll believe the car has been modified when it hasn’t. The standard modifications become apparent when you provide the value of the car.
