Bazza06 wrote: Mon Oct 18, 2021 12:15 pm I was looking to insure with either NFU or LV. As per my previous post, NFU were massively higher than quotes I'd received from LV, so it left me with LV only to consider.

The quotes I received from LV were obtained from comparison sites.
Here is what I received:

1) Compare the Market quoted £487.86
2) Go Compare quoted £426.39

I was set to push the button on Go Compare.
However, I thought I would get a quote direct from the LV website, and they quoted £252.15

This is why it pays to spend a bit of time and shop around.
The Gen 3 models aren’t on the comparison sites, or any other site for that matter though. I just double checked all the usual, including LV and go compare and they don’t have Gen 3’s. I assume you are talking about Gen 2 insurance?
I just asked for a quote on a new Macan GTS
did they confirm the engine size/output with you? If you say its a 2021 GTS they probably wont question the engine size etc. I know the 2020 and 2021 GTS models have the same engine but there is a significant BHP hike. So if they think you have 375BHP rather than the actual 440BHP in the new GTS your insurance wont be valid.

Of course its totally possible they just haven't updated their website yet

I do have a confirmed quote from NFU. It’s nowhere near the very low amounts being posted on this thread though. They don’t have the gen iii details on their system but full details were sent and accepted by their underwriters. Excess on the policy would be £250 compulsory + £250 v. Theft excess is high at £1,950. They do have a great policy in the case of theft though in that they will replace to the full cost of the replacement car and not market value at the time. Applies for 1st two years of ownership.

A lot depends on your Postcode. I asked if a tracker would reduce my premium and the answer was "not where I live, it would be a requirement in some places though".

Postcode is definitely a factor. Best quote I've had on current info is £1,100! with10 yrs Protected NCB, 57 yrs old! It's Birmingham by the way..

that sound good. If they do that then I don't see the need for GAP insurance

I didn't go into any specifics around BHP etc. and neither did they
Let't face it, whilst I may know the difference in BHP, there are many who have no idea about BHP and wouldn't even know to question it.
If the Gen 3 is not on any comparison site, does that mean all current Gen 3 owners are driving around uninsured?

I posted earlier about my quote from NFU.
When I was with them previously, they were very competitive, but not any more.
They were multiple more times expensive than LV, who has now superseded them as Which? No1 insurer.

Nope, it means most have had to go through brokers and get “temp” insurance that will be updated when the insurance companies get up to speed.

Try checking on a few, especially for the S. They all show the S as a 3 litre with 340(ish) BHP.

Ignorance is no defence of the law as they say, so if the car is not the correct model and output your insurance is not valid.

As for on line sites, if you can find a single site that shows a 2.9ltr S variant with 375bhp ( they do show the horsepower ) then I’ll buy you a pint.
