Over the last 10k miles in my 2019 S, I have averaged 28 mpg. The best trip was actually on Saturday from West Sussex to North Norfolk, a mixture of Motorway, duel carriageway and main A roads and an achieved 35 mpg on a tank that was 75% Momentum99 and 25% Vpower average speed 50 mph.

Over the last 4000 miles in my 2020 S, my average has been 26.8 mpg, using full tank to full tank fillings.

This has mostly been urban trips, with one 1000 mile trip to France.

Welcome to the forum.

As Col has said earlier, if fuel consumption is your worry then the Macan is not the right car. It weighs nearly two tonnes and encourages you to drive it fast.

Over 5,600 miles, I've averaged 27.7mpg (switching between metric for weight and Imperial for fuel consumption ;) ) with a best tankful of 31 and worst of 26. Like a few others, I always fill the tank to the brim and record the mileage. The trip recorder is roughly 5% high.

My 3 month old GTS is better than my old S which had the 3L engine. Journey to/from Devon to Lincolnshire, mostly motorway or dual carriage averaged 31.5mpg cruising at reasonable motorway speeds. Around the country lanes in Devon it dropped to 19mpg. Just done a run on a similar mix of roads to Northumberland and back but only on E10 fuel as shortage of super unleaded and down to 29.5 on similar roads to the Devon run. General running around A and B roads in Lincolnshire is averaging around 25mpg if journey is long enough to get it fully warmed through.

Fuel consumption throws up some seemingly odd things, obviously all explained by use of accelerator and brakes but not always obvious! My youngest lives near Hull and on several occasions going over there the mpg has been happily reading 31mpg, however, by the time we were home again it's down to the high 20s. Bearing in mind it's an average of the two "there" and "back" trips the return must have been 25ish. Must be down to Sheffield to Hull being "downhill" by 570 feet and the prevailing wind being behind us going and against us returning. Ridiculous!

All subjective, the ONLY way to do it is from full to full. The on board readout is hopelessly inaccurate....

"Hopelessly" is an overstatement and whilst your basic point is true as long as the PCM figure is derived in a consistent manner (it must be, surely?) then it's a useful guide. I'm a bit of an anorak in that I have recorded every fill since I got the car, volume, cost, brand, grade and mileage :D all of which makes me satisfied that the PCM isn't as bad as its been painted. That said I'm not SO sad that I'll brim it before I set off on a trip and again when I get back to test the PCM. If I did though, are all "brims" equal and was the PCM reset to zero at the first one? We could go on forever and life's to short!

By definition then the mileometer reading is not 100% accurate either.

I rarely look at MPG. My journeys differ week on week from 3-10 mile trips to 70-100 mile jaunts so it would be pointless anyway. I fill up when it get to 100 mile range on the gauge.
