Hi All, The gen 3 was launched in Australia this weekend so went for a test drive in the new S and to look around. Some observations :
- The S is amazing ! Car feels rock solid and was a hoot to drive. It realy has a jekyll and hide character, you can plot along or
if you want to. The new V6 is a really smooth and makes the right noises to put a smile on my dial.
- The car I drove was fitted with PASM ( no air) and 20” wheels. Ride was firm, but not uncomfortable, not like my neighbours C63AMG- that needs a stop at the dentist to refix your dentures afterwards.
- PCM screen is a highlight, looks even better than an Ipad.
- Gentian Blue looks really good. It has a purple tint that gives it a bit interest without being being overwhelming
- Saw the gentian deviated stitching, its nice, but still a bit dark and doesn’t lift the cabin by much.
- Sunroof is bigger than I expected and makes the canbin nice and sunny
- Found out today that pebble grey is now combined with black ( on Gen 3). On the Gen 2 ‘s it was paired with agate grey for dash, door trim and roofliner. Agate grey is a brown grey, looks very nice, but does mean you have to change your carpets, seatbelts and steering wheel to get a harmonious looking cabin.
Found out today my car has been built and should be on its merry 1.5 month voyage around the world. Its being shipped withouth the sub woofer and headlights self levelling due to the global chip shortage. It will be fitted by my dealer before delivery (assume that gets air freighted). I have heard BMW and MB have reduced spec on cars( HUD and some safety features) so they can be made, while Porsche has maintained options, so kudos to them.
Overall very happy with the decsion to buy a Macan.
Oh and Australian Gen 3 Macans have a USB and Sim card slot…. On that bombshell, I have to say goodnight.
