Hi
Looking to buy a 2018'sh petrol S Macan for a few years 'fun'. Would this be a good choice to hold value over say a couple of years?? I have around 50k to spend, could go a bit higher. Or should I look at Turbos and GTS models? I could pay more, up to 60k, but I was hoping to get most of my money back in a year or two.

I’d suggest that the current used car bubble of inflated prices will well and truly have burst within the next two years so wouldn’t hold out a lot of hope in retaining most of your money I’m afraid.
2022 GTS order cancelled
2023 718 Spyder order cancelled
Gone rogue and bought an Aston Martin V12 Vantage S

It’s all guesswork at the moment. There are suggestions supply of many new cars may not be fully back to normal again until the end of next year(assuming no more lockdowns globally etc) so who knows when and by how much that will effect the second hand market. It has though certainly made new cars look more appealing for the time being IF you can actually get one…

Hi Mike,
Historically the GTS has held its value a bit better than the 2.0, S and SD, but with the current used car price bubble, it’s anyone’s guess...!
Rather than trying to guess which might depreciate less, I’d go for the one that you’ll enjoy the most!
Cheers,
Simon

For 2018 I’d get a gen 1 GTS over the gen 1 S. It’s more fun, esp as the 2018 GTS has no gpf. If you can go to about 55k then the turbo is awesome and you will have no regrets.mickmichael wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 6:04 pm Hi

If you can spend a little more and move into the gen 2 models you could prob just about squeeze a S model for 55k-60k
On the balance of things, if I were you I’d get the gen 1 turbo for around 55k - plenty on autotrader
Although, at £60k you can get a pretty highly specced Gen 3 S, which has the same engine and slightly better performance than a Gen 2 GTS. When I say “get” though…..sd1985 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 6:54 pmFor 2018 I’d get a gen 1 GTS over the gen 1 S. It’s more fun, esp as the 2018 GTS has no gpf. From what I’ve looked at is tend to agree. Opcs sell second hand gen 1 GTS for between 50-60k which seems pretty expensive considering it is lower powered(360bhp) than the new S(375bhp) which can be had with limited options OTR for £60k. So I feel people do pay for the GTS badge. The other option to watch out for is cancelled new gen 2 macans. They are sold for RRP so look pretty good value compared with second hand currently - obviously you can’t chose your spec though and they only appear infrequently and sell pretty quickly.Wing Commander wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 6:40 pmmickmichael wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 6:04 pm Hi

I shudder to think what the first gen 3s to hit the second hand market will cost
No way he’d get one for at least 9 months I thinkOmniCognateSnr wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 6:56 pmAlthough, at £60k you can get a pretty highly specced Gen 3 S, which has the same engine and slightly better performance than a Gen 2 GTS. But yes if you can wait the gen 3 S is a good fit for the budget!
The used car market is inflated just now though. So it’s better to buy new IF you can get one.BanZ wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 6:59 pmFrom what I’ve looked at is tend to agree.
