Back in the day I had a 3 door Cosworth and I used to take the steering wheel off it every night!

Nice one. That made me laugh!

I can remember this was part of a public information spot on TV, a long time ago.
Back in the 70's, me and Dad used to wire a key switch into the low tension wire on the coil. When switched out, the car would turn over but not spark. I came back to my MK3 Cortina in B'ham centre one night, to find the door open and the battery very low, but there were 4/5 of us so we managed to bump start it.

I too am careful where I park. Well away from the entrance at the supermarket. And as said earlier, on the top floor of a multi-storey.

My car has received unwanted attention twice (but then it is a bright yellow 911).

First time was in a Sainsbury’s car park. Parked far away from the store entrance. Someone kindly ‘signed’ the front wing with a black marker pen. :( Luckily lots of elbow grease eventually removed the ‘artwork’.

Second time was parked on the road, near a friend’s house overnight. Someone kindly scratched the rear bumper quite deeply, with something like a penknife. I eventually got it sorted by a very good local Chips Away guy.

It’s my sole car and a daily driver. I have a brick-built car port, but it’s around the back, out of sight of my house, so I park it in the parking bay, right outside my front door. For the last 18 months, I’ve worked from home, at my kitchen table, about 10 feet from my car. 😂 And I had a new LED outdoor light installed, with a sensor, so the car is brightly illuminated from dusk till dawn! 💡

I worry more about my car being pranged while it’s parked up, rather than it being stolen. A previous Evoque that I had as a company car, neeed a new rear door, after some careless person reversed into my parked car, while they attempted a three point turn! 🙄

^^^ BUT cars have been steered with a pair of molegrips before now so that isn't totally safe! That might only happen in Liverpool though :)

you could always stick Lada badges on it, that should put anyone off.

BTW, just noticed some wag has had the valve caps off my mini! Didn’t think people still did that kind of thing.

I have a tracker cost circa £30 identical to those for sale for £200 (UK companies buy and rebadge them eg Back2You). Three wire connection

I keep away from others in car parks
What tracker do you use Madelvic?
Coban are the manufacturer. Various flavours badged '303'. These and similar on Amazon. Use a £10 PAYG SIM that lasts several years. Can either use an app to track the car or simply phone the SIM and you get texted back with Google maps link where the car is

I’ve just bought a TKStar GPS Tracker, a magnetic box that is USB charged and can be hidden behind a trim panel, inside spare wheel, battery compartment etc. I’d not call it a huge security improvement, perhaos more novelty value, but it will tell me where the car is at a moment intime (You call the tracker, it texts back it’s gps location).

As to car parks I try to park away from others, but often I come back to find another car next to mine with 8 spare spaces empty!
