I only got to drive a base Macan 2.0, though on the booking receipt it specified a Macan S for the day.

A little disappointed as my own AUDI Q3 has more power than the 2.0. But the driving experience of understanding how the car drives and how to control in engaging driving was fun.

I would never push my own car and drive around like on a race track on public road but learning how to control the car in a slide or how capable it is in hard accelerating and braking is a new experience.

The Macan is a heavy car and you learn about the inertia and how to control the weight of the car just a little underwhelming by the power on the race track.

The instructor did say they had about 20 cars or every model and driving around parts of the compound, there are a lot of Porsches so I wonder why I only had the base Macan. It’s worth asking ahead whether you could have an S or GTS to avoid any disappointed expectations.

I test drove a Macan S from Silverstone OPC a few weeks back and you can feel the power, so when you expect to learn to push another Macan S around a track with guidance and only been given a base 2.0 😔

All staff are all very friendly, just wished the experience was more thrilling.

Love to hear others experiences who managed to drive a Macan S.
In all seriousness, I would be asking for another day.

The base Macan is a superb car but having driven one at OPC Reading the same day as I'd driven a Turbo at PEC I can assure you they are like night and day and if you are buying an S then you need to experience the difference on a track and skid pan which is that actual purpose of the PEC day. You can see what the buttons etc do in a dealership.

I really wouldn't settle for anything less.

Good luck.

Hi ianst,

I had purchased a Macan S, lightly optioned first Porsche, so I didn’t really know what to do or expect.

By the time I could test drive Macan S, my build was long locked in.

The day at PEC was actually the factory build completion date too. OPC Silverstone confirmed it is fully built awaiting to be transported to the port, so not long now.

Had a look at the Macan back in May but was told to maybe hold off ordering, as a new model was due out in Summer. Order placed on the day of launch July 21st, deposit put down within a week.

Hopefully not too long to wait now.

I see in the colour poll, I am only one of 5 that has ordered Night Blue!

So you should have got to do your half day in an S. Bit disappointing. The only saving grace is that your S will feel more lively when you get delivery. Might be worth a complaint though.

I have just emailed PEC about this so let’s see what they have to say in response.

Especially as your NCCE form above clearly states Macan S.
