Hi all

First time posting here, so hello everyone and thanks in advance for any responses.

I currently lease a Jaguar F Pace and was looking to replace pretty much like for like but the prices have rocketed recently. Randomly I’ve found a deal for a Macan which is around £120 / month lower than all other leasing sites and much more competitive than F Pace quotes. With it being my first (and possibly last) opportunity to get a Porsche, I’m all over it.

The lease is for the base Macan. Please don’t judge me or tell me it’s rubbish and I should get an S or GTS. Those are simply not in my budget. Plus I’m thinking coming from a diesel F Pace I’m going to be blown away by the Macan.

My question is around servicing and maintenance, because as part of the lease I have the option of taking out a maintenance plan. The plan is £27 / month so £324 / year and £972 over the 3 year term. It includes service and tyres but not oil change.

I’ve spoken to my local Porsche dealership service team and they told me that the (ballpark) figures for 1st service at 2yrs or 20k miles is £450 including oil change. However I spoke to a friend who’s sister works in Porsche aftercare and she said the 1st service would be £865. Obviously a big difference there. Will try calling another Porsche dealership and seeing what they say to benchmark.

I’ve looked on Kwikfit and the most expensive “N” tyre (being the base 19s) is around £199. So assuming maybe 2 punctures over the term that would be £500. I’m looking at 5k miles / year so don’t expect to have to replace the full set for wear. Is that realistic?

So I’m trying to work out if the maintenance plan is worth it or not. Based on the £450 service and 2 tyres that’s pretty much break even. If the service is more like £865 then it’s a no brainer. Does anyone have any better idea of the service price?

I know a lot of people ask about the oil change price. The service team at the dealership said approx £350 and the person in after sales said £450 so not much difference there.

Thanks everyone.

Brake fluid change is every 2 years so add ca £165 to your service bills. Pdk service is 6yrs or 40K miles and that’s ca £500 currently.

I swapped a 2019 discovery Sport and a 2006 Boxster S for my Macan SD re and I’m very happy.

The base macan doesnt have the pace of the S or GTS but it’s hardly slow.

Good luck choosing your spec

Doing 5k miles a year you shouldn't need a service until year 4 but may well need an oil change or even two, if your trips are short and don't get the engine up to full working temperature. Equally tyres won't be required, so that service plan doesn't seem the paper it's written on! Put £27 a month in your piggy bank and hope for the best!

Humm, does not the two year service period apply irrespective of mileage. All the messages I have seen including those in the MFD imply so. never mind changing brake fluid very two years due to age.

20k miles or 2 years

There will be a big service then as brake fluid needs doing too as noted above

Could be worth it. Drive the Macan as it is intended and you
Might destroy some tyres too.

We need re pads after 15k miles too

Agree tyres should be okay unless damaged beyond repair but Service and brake fluid change required every 2 years irrespective of low mileage.

Excluding oil change makes it hard to judge value as few have OPC's quotes for 2 year service excluding oil change but including brake fluid. I would estimate it as about £600. In my S now on 22000, I am still on original brake pads and tyres. are you sure the tyre coverage includes punctures? To me, the offer looks very marginal but does offer some protection against inflation

Also just check exactly what you would be leasing here as the headline quotes are usually for a base car with no options. To bring up to F-Pace spec May take a few thousand to get like for like?

Just my 2cents and obviously personal circumstances play a big part in decision making but if I could afford not to whether via personal wealth or financing I wouldn’t lease a Macan. The cheapest 2 year leases I’ve seen on 5k miles are around 20k and are likely for a base Macan with no options. If you were to buy a base Macan with no options it’s not likely to lose close to £20k in 2 years and 10k miles and your financing costs are very unlikely to bridge the gap…. Just food for thought.

Sound advice

Leasing is just renting so guaranteed dead money

If you have to finance do a way that you stand a chance of benefitting in the long term residuals
