The snob appeal I could have overcome with some BOSE speaker labels from China but for reselling it seems that having the upgraded system is as important as Pano and Chrono.
Agree with you here Blues although -
I think a used Macan will sell quickly regardless of the sound option but my OPC told me that value would reduce by around £500 if no BOSE.
Of course you have to spend £830 up front to get the extra £500 value, so by not having BOSE you are £300 better off immediately! 😂

Hi VxD - welcome and a nice first post. I made the same choice as you for the same reasons. What is surprising is that the PCM supports 24bit/96kHz lossless formats (WAV/FLAC/ALAC) so somebody somewhere cares about audio reproduction. The Bose is a marketing job in the UK and sounds different but as you say is for people who are fans of DSP surround processing whereas I prefer less stuff in the way between me and the music.

Partial regret for not speccing Burmester now that I have taken delivery but no regret about not speccing Bose.

@Jon A - spot on with the Man Maths :)

In June 2020 my SD was sold by the OPC within 2 weeks of trading it in. It did not have Bose and the OPC had originaly said it would have little inpact on residual value.

Resale value heavily depends on the country. Bose is universally despised over here so checking the option (which costs £1,200 here!) grants you an amazing £0 on resale. Same reason why Japan does not have a "Premium Package Plus" package option. ;)
I heard that the base system is easier to upgrade, which would be the way to go for the car music enthusiast with a second-hand car.

In any case, both the base and the Bose systems are fine; one is not necessarily better than the other, it really depends on your needs, which is why I would recommend anyone on the fence to sit down with both and compare if possible.

FWIW in around 3 years time alot of us will be shifting our cars on so there'll be more choice for new owners. Having an upgraded stereo might help you sell your car a little faster 🤔

I preferred to spend it on 14-ways, extended leather and air suspension.
