The battery part number is still listed in the Porsche parts files as 958 611 105 21 for the 105AH item

Other ancillary items around the battery such as terminal covers, BMS etc carry VAG/Audi part numbers.

Thanks for the info, I have discovered the battery in my Gen 2 Turbo and it is a Varta 92AH factory fit Oct 2019

I have a 92ah Varta in my 21 plate Turbo as well.

Buy battery from good source.
Fit battery
Take to a garage with standard vehicle diagnostics (they all have them) and pay £30 to plug in and reset any standing codes. If worried, use a Porsche specialist type. Batteries are not coded, they just throw alarms and limits in the ECU if they're low on capacity, and sometimes these need a reset so everything works, and the alternator circuit knows how to charge the new boy.
Alternatively, give garage battery to fit if beyond your skillset.
No reason an OPC should ever touch your battery unless it's a warranty issue in the usual timescales. Fitting your own does not invalidate your vehicle warranty

I’m afraid this is incorrect. If you are within the Porsche warranty, original or extended, an aftermarket battery WILL invalidate your warranty. I had exactly this and had to replace a brand new after market battery with a Porsche branded battery that can only be bought from Porsche (made by Moll I believe). I was quoted £610 and negotiated down to £490 in the end.
Also, the battery does need coding to tell the car it’s a new battery, otherwise it will think it’s an old battery and over charge it. To complete the coding the program asks for the battery serial number, and you guessed it, it will only accept a Porsche OEM number.
So, your hands are tied if you have warranty or if you want the battery coded correctly

You're being spun a lie. I've had battery issues on under-warranty cars and the dealer themselves told me they have an enormous issue with the battery types they use. I swapped one out of my under warranty Cayman S (not a Moll....Varta) which underwent further warranty repairs for a useless cooling system and air conditioner heat exchangers (separate issues). No problems were highlighted from not having an OPC fitted battery . They also took it in p/x as it stood.

As regards battery life, my other recent self change was my 2011 E91 B3SBiturbo: It failed at 8 years of age and was CTek charged most of its life. I sourced a battery of better spec than original, installed it myself and took it to my local friendly dealer to check the codes. None stood. Cost me about 1/3 of taking it to a BMW service agent.

It's worth noting that the way modern battery charging and use is controlled, the ECU measures battery condition routinely and starts to switch off functions as it feels the battery performance is ebbing. Usually the heated window elements are first to go, followed by things like bluetooth and audio extras, so these are the usual early warnings of impending battery issue.

My most recent battery failure was on our 13 month old iD3, which had its 12V battery exchanged under warranty. This was likely due to the car having stood around for many months pre-delivery, and was quite a surprise to my local VAG service agent when they confirmed my reports it was fubarred.

I use CTek mx5.0's on all my cars if they are standing more than a week. Talk to a well trained AA person and they will advise one is used on low to moderate use cars to maintain battery condition. I was advised to fit one to my iD3: I just haven't got around to it yet

Well I can only report from my own experience, this is what I was told and had to change the battery in order to validate the warranty.
