Why would they bother printing it if the sales guys or those at PEC (who have no interest in the car) would know better

What's the harm of running it in, just takes the fun out of the car for a while that's all.
If you don't do it and you have a failure, Porsche may have an argument.
Up to you of you wanna take the risk.

The car can still be fun, if kept under 4,000 rpm. ;) :)

mmmm 4000 revs my F Pace 3.0 Diesel runs out of grunt there. that's the difference between Petrol and Diesel though isn't it, power band much higher on these 2.9 Petrol engines.

No worries I intend to follow all advice and the manual as I have done on all my cars, although my petrol head son will be disappointed he thinks modern engines are good to go from picking up at the dealership. Ill give him the sportsman analogy, think he might appreciate that.

If I was to say you can't go above 4k rpm in your T, how long would you keep it? And then, how much would you accept for it ;)

This comes up so frequently. The guidelines are there and many of us follow them and I can tell you there is still plenty of fun to be had under 4K rpm in my S from the 1800 miles I did. It is though a free country and everyone can do as they want. The sales people always tell you, you can blast it directly out of the showroom though…

The sales people sometimes distort the truth, so my advice would be not to take what they say as gospel. Have a read or check out the on line drivers manual, you won’t go far wrong from following the advice there.
My advice would be don’t over Rev it for anything other than a quick burst.

Don’t floor it.

Don’t go over 4k revs.

Don’t keep it at a constant speed.

Do drive it far enough to get up to operating temperature.

Do Enjoy.

So true. All we're talking about is minimising excessive engine wear when its new and by far the greatest culprit is point 4. If you always get the oil temperature to normal then that will give far less wear than overrevving the engine occasionally.
