I've a June build date now (woohoo!) so have moved on from the confuserator to thinking about post-delivery decisions.

From my reading to date, there seems to be a pretty strong recommendation not to pay the OPC to do any protective finishes on the car, whether old-fashioned wax or more modern ceramic. FYI cost for ceramic is £799 at the OPC, using Gtechniq products, I assume the 5 year version.

The car will be low mileage (maybe 6k a year) and will be garaged. It is to be a long term car (10+ years perhaps). I'll care for it but I'm not into weekly washes. I occasionally use a jet wash but have never used an automatic car wash and won't be starting now.

Is the recommendation not to use the OPC is shared by this group?
Is the Gtechniq 9 year worth it over the 5 year? Any others to consider?

Also interested in any specific recommendations for detailers (or people to avoid - feel free to PM me) in the north west / within reach of Lancaster.

Thank you...

I had the front end of mine PPF’d and with a panaramic roof it leaves very little left to have to wax. So I have a ceramic boost XPEL spray for the front end PPF, and use Meguiars polish + Ulimate polymer wax on the rest of the car. Works well.

The Macan design is a magnet for stones BTW :(

Compared to my Merc it is, but take your point compared to the sports cars.

Don't let the OPC do ceramic coating - it'll be a quick and nasty job, probably done by the lad who washes cars. Most of the £799 cost is dealer profit and salesman commission. If you want it coated properly, take it to a specialist detailer.
