Has anyone had this pop up on their Gen3 S? Appeared this morning and put it into limp mode. On Wednesday I topped up the oil and yesterday gave it a treat of 99 Tesco Best.

Have you checked the oil level since you topped up the oil? Just in case the oil level is now too high. Probably not linked but worth ruling out.

Has it cleared after car locked and left for an hour plus? If so maybe just a glitch.

How much oil did you add and what did the indicator show before and after?

Assuming the correct fuel was dispensed by the pump that shouldn't be an issue.

Maybe worth noting that the ECU controls a lot more than the engine. When I had this it was intermittent problems from the wheel-rotation sensors. (which were replaced and a couple of years later no more issues).

Too much oil, my take on this.............. How much did you put in? What did the display show prior to topping off?

Added 2/3rds of a litre. 'Dipstick' is just below maximum.

I've been on 95 since August so perhaps the ignition had a problem advancing to 99.

My OPC Tewkesbury were no help. Couldn't see me until mid next week. So I've called Porsche "AA" Assist. They'll be here to analyse later this morning.

AA man came, analysed, fixed, reset ECU.

2 Faults. Engine idle speed too high. Air leak in intake system.

Started up and the engine was idling at 1200rpm

Took off engine cover and you could hear rushing air.

Fiddled with various plastic pipes from where the sound was to no avail

The listened closely and navigated to the oil filler cap.

Apparantlt the mechanic who put the oil in hadn't closed the filler cap properly and the seal was leaking.

Sheep faced mechanic said thank you very much.

He did say that Porsche is one of the most reliable brands on the road. He rarely sees them and those he does are mainly 911s with flat batteries. He went to start a 70 plate the other week with just 25 miles on the clock!!
