Then, the week after, one spring has broken. Again, OPC has quoted quite a high bill for that too (almost £1k to fix one spring...).

They don't do just one spring. They change both springs on the same axle and, as a principle, I don't have a problem with that. The price will probably also include four wheel steering realignment so £800-£900 is about within range.
