I used this on my 991 PCM 3.1 earlier this year: https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/porsche-p ... -846-p.aspmickmichael wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 3:05 pm Hi
I believe there is an update for my sat nav in my 2015 macan S, I think it has the 3.1 version, never been updated from new, how do I do this? Someone said it is covered under warranty??
Mike
It came on USB sticks and upgraded the firmware and map data to (IIRC) 2020/21. It cost £129. Big difference in mapping/POIs given it was its first upgrade since new (2013). Tested mainly in France.
Downside is that the traffic information (the blue arrows) stopped working - probably because Porsche detected a non-Porsche product. I referred this to supplier but they couldn't/wouldn't help. I haven't found a fix for this.

Would agree with others, never use the Porsche system, have carplay and a dongle so wireless and then rely on waze - this my personal opinion obviously
Would add here - was sick and tired on previous cars with additional charges to update the nav maps - and why ?
There is honestly no need, waze and others mich more up to date so why bother.

Because in this country there is often no mobile signal, or insufficient to download maps. I was in the Forest of Dean on Sunday and CarPlay was useless. If you travel around the UK to unfamiliar areas, which is when you need navigation, it happens quite a lot.Subculture wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 5:58 pm Would agree with others, never use the Porsche system, have carplay and a dongle so wireless and then rely on waze - this my personal opinion obviously

Agree with you on this Nick but I would always use Waze personally as it is live to the minute etc. As you say, having the car system as backup is always good but I don’t think you need to pay for live traffic etc as a backup system, as it’s the map route that will be important on the rare occasions there is no signal.Nuclear Nick wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 6:52 amBecause in this country there is often no mobile signal, or insufficient to download maps. I had a 2015 Macan SD (MY2016) from new until 2020, it also had version 3.1 of the PCM software. There were no updates available during that time and IIRC version 3.1 is non-updateable. I think it was 2017 before the updateable version came out. Unfortunately, I think you will have to look on with envy at all the posts about Over The Air updates.mickmichael wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 3:05 pm Hi

I have not used Waze for some years (I use Sygic mainly nowadays), but as far as I know it does not have an offline facility but nowadays most others , such as Google maps (and Apple Maps with Ios 17) do and so you can download the maps for U.K. or France or whatever country you are in and use them without requiring an internet connection, but you would obviously not get any real time traffic information without a phone signal.
