According to the latest Macan manual that I have just downloaded ....

Light switch settings

WARNING
Driving without lights

If you drive without lights, this may significantly restrict your visibility and also the ability of other road users to see your vehicle.......

Have we, as a species, fallen so low?

Yes, sadly. Driven mainly by the litigious US market I think. Woman over there sued the manufacturer of her microwave because the manual didn’t say not to dry her, now dead, pet in the microwave after its bath.

Only if you are American !

With their Litigation Culture manufacturers have to cater for all possibilities.

Use of Cruise Control warning that came about after some stupid Yank set his RV cruise control and then left the drivers seat, the resulting effect made the News years ago.

QUOTE

Merv Grazinski set his Winnebago on cruise control, slid away from the wheel and went back to fix a cup of coffee. You can guess what happened next: The rudderless, driverless Winnebago crashed. Grazinski blamed the manufacturer for not warning against such a maneuver in the owner's manual

Some people say, it's common sense. Why that phrase perplexes me, because lets face it, sence just isn't common. Not to some.

Not to worry because autonomous cars are coming. Has anyone watch Rory Reeds BMW I5 video. The technology is now there. No hand on steering wheel or peddles.

Loads of apps to play with while sat doing nothing. Play videos. Even take selfies while the car takes on the task of driving. Want to overtake? flick the indicator (how exhausting that will be) and simply look in the door mirror as tall the car you've looked, and it will pull out and overtake. What they didn't say was what happens if you look in the door mirror and a car is there, or a car is very quickly approaching. Will the car still just pull out?

I'm sure the masses will lap it up. Drive to work while reading a book. Doing their make-up. Watching TV, or simply sending selfies to people who don't care. They can then watch something not moving in front of them and take a quick goodbye selfie just before the car ploughs into it and kills them.

Even better in an EV. Survive the crash, but then get quickly burned to death before anyone can get you out.

It's the future !

"Want to overtake? flick the indicator"

I'm not sure that I've ever seen a BMW driver do that ;)
