My renewal quote from LV is up 39%. Will see what Go Compare can do shortly.

I've just done this and lowest quote is £1,300 more than NFU renewal quote Looks like NFU wins...

Just spoken with LV and they offered a slight reduction on their quote of £1014 (£729 last year), i got it reduced to £969. Cheapest i could get on Go Compare was £958 with the AA, but couldn’t be bothered to change for the sake of £11. Always worth phoning to see if you can do a deal

So have just got renewal quote from Admiral for our families five cars, and has gone up from £2,400 to £4K!
Shopped around (a real embuggerance) and got them individually for £3,200, so 33% increase on last year albeit with a brand new driver added, so that didn’t help.
Interestingly, when I put the registrations in it shows the current estimated values of each car both retail and trade. The 911 and 718 had decreased more than I would have liked but I don’t think they factor in options, but the Kia Sportage was the big surprise.
Bought two years ago for £17k and now worth £13k trade in. It would have been £24k new in 2018 so is worth 55% of new price after six years!

Not wishing to matchmake but my understanding is that having a spouse on the policy reduces the premium substantially

Yes I diaried the best date to do it based on ML advice. Just got to take a breath and expect some sort of increase. Ours was hindered by Mrs A getting three points last month, my son becoming disabled in the last year and his fiancé only passing her test in December!
All in all I’m satisfied rather than pleased.

No partner but added my sister and mine went down. Also getting the renewal quotes in the time window suggested by ML worked for me. It dropped as I entered the 20/21 days or whatever it was.

A good time to propose Simon!! I did it back in 1972 because I had a job offer in the Bahamas but you had to be married so I proposed to my girlfriend then they gave the job to someone else, bastards!!! They gave me a couple of years in Malta instead as away of saying sorry.............)

Just renewed my wife’s car insurance, no changes to history and price had increased by 33%. Did my usual comparison site review and the first half dozen came in within £10, the cheapest “QMH” being £1 more than current renewal. My experiences now with four different cars over the last six months, with no changes to history the general level increase is 33-35%.
