I always do 2 stabs and that seems to work consistently, probably because the second is a back up the first not taking

The manual, if I'd bothered to read it, does account for the engine off before stop...

The OPC service manager told me, though he'd only found out himself it's normal that day.

So both situations which members here have encountered are correct.
