Winter tyres make the biggest difference. Macan tyres are far too wide for snow too. Recall a video of a fwd car on winters beating a 4wd car on summer’s on snow; equally a 4wd Panda leaving an RS4 for dead, again in snow
but the 18s and 19s are narrower than 20s and 21s and are the wheel sets to use for winter tyres
+1
And you can fit chains on 18’ and ‘19 which you can’t on 20’ +

A Macan shod with 19 inch winter wheels is one of the best cars to drive in snow… hill decent works brilliantly….far better than any modern JLR product ( with the exception of the old Freelander) however most 911 drivers I know have brought Fiat Panda 4x4s because even with winters a 911 is a death trap on snowy mountain roads
No issue with 911 in snow. Miles better than any BMW I’ve had.
Also, does the Macan have hill decent mode? I must have missed that one…
Withdraw your sarcastic comment now Jon?
Absolutely zero sarcasm involved! I meant it as it says - I must have missed that one!
Believe me, when I’m being sarcastic, you will know, I tend not to be subtle …

Probably because you didn't keep it long enough to get that far through the manual?
Now, that WAS sarcastic!

My BMW 330e on winter tyres was excellent on winter tyres i the Alps.
4WD might help you get ggoing but it won't keep you out of the ditch on a corner and it will not help you stop.
In the absence of the right tyres, if you have to go out... drive slowly, gentle throttle applications, gentle movement of the steering wheel, gentle and very early application of the brakes (stopping distances on snow/ice can be greater than 10x your stopping distance in the dry)... and anticipate problem...
Still, if you haven't got the right tyres... if you don't have to go out... don't.

Tyres are the key, as has been said above.

There is a school of thought that 4x4 simply allows you to crash at a higher speed in poor conditions. It may get you going but won't stop you any quicker.............
Apologies for the digression. In the mid 1980s a number of Police forces used Sierra XR4x4s as fast patrol cars. They found out the hard way that even highly trained drivers can't manufacture grip when it isn't there.

Never looked at a manual for a car in my life, just kind of a “get in and drive it” kinda of a guy
…obviously the occasional button does go under the radar…
