My previous one cost around Β£115 per week. To me that's good value. Yes, because the 42 month old one sold last Feb was bought pre pandemic before numerous hefty price raises and sold before the arse dropped out of the second-hand car market last autumn. I suspect you got lucky with the timing on that one - wonder what WBAC would have paid for it 6/8 months later. I bet the new one, like my Macan, will not recoup anything like that percentage at 42 months old. Those days are over.
It's only money!

That's exactly the point I'm making, your previous one may well of depreciated at Β£115 per week, but a new one now is going to cost more.PorscheMack wrote: βFri Feb 16, 2024 12:41 pmMy previous one cost around Β£115 per week. Err, yeah but it's all about what you pay and what you sell for. I'll let you know in around 2 years when I move it on...HertsMacan wrote: βFri Feb 16, 2024 3:28 pmThat's exactly the point I'm making, your previous one may well of depreciated at Β£115 per week, but a new one now is going to cost more.PorscheMack wrote: βFri Feb 16, 2024 12:41 pmMy previous one cost around Β£115 per week. Don't diarise it mate, I'm not really that interested, like the size of your TV's.PorscheMack wrote: βFri Feb 16, 2024 4:19 pmErr, yeah but it's all about what you pay and what you sell for. Autotrader valuation estimates my 20 month old S is worth circa Β£12,500 less than I paid for it, new.
They also estimate that my wife's 17 month old Mini Electric is worth Β£14,300 less than she paid for it, new, despite it costing half the price of my Macan and having done only 40% of the mileage mine has covered.
Let's see her try telling me I have extravagant taste

It's all about timing and the market. I bought my C250d in March 2018 pre reg ,50 miles, for Β£31.5 k ( Β£14k discount run out model) p/ex against the Macan in April 2023 for Β£21.5k so that's Β£2000 pa or Β£39 a week, well happy. If I'd have kept it until my originally ordered "T" was delivered in October 23 it was valued at Β£15k so down Β£6.5k in 6 months or Β£60 a week since new.
Will worry about what the Macan is worth if and when I decide to sell it.

You've done well 12,500 in 20 months. Not done a valuation but i think i am looking at about Β£16-Β£17K in 18 months - ouch! I am disappointed in that amount of depreciation i must admit, and thought it would not be quite so high. Lets hope it slows down a bit and i can get nearer to my of Β£600 per months over the longer term i intend to keep it.Old Chimer wrote: βFri Feb 16, 2024 6:33 pm Autotrader valuation estimates my 20 month old S is worth circa Β£12,500 less than I paid for it, new.
