The National Geographic Channel Megafactories programme on the 991 ( where my 981 was also built) said that Porsche spent 200 million euro on the Stuttgart paintshop. Wonder if they spent the same at Leipzig ?

In answer to my own question:
The Macan is built at Porsche's newly expanded Leipzig facility. While it ends up on the same final assembly line as the Cayenne and Panamera, it starts in its own new body shop, paint shop and pre-assembly lines manned by 1,400 new employees. Porsche chairman Matthias Müller calls them "new workers building a new model in a new factory." Initial capacity is 50,000 Macans a year, a 30 percent increase in Porsche's annual vehicle output.

I be interested to know what colour people would actually pick if they were all free.....black/white is popular, but is this due to it being free?Roy2014-05-22 08:50:05

I'm one of the four!
My salesman assures me it will be available for Oct build/Nov delivery. Hope he's not making it up, otherwise I could have had an earlier slot with a different colour choice........
I'd be interested in comments from others who have "ordered" Sapphire as to what they've been told.
Macan S sold; Turbo cancelled. Boxster Spyder - collected 20.05.2016

I have white as I think it's the best of a bad lot, the colour choices are bland in the extreme. The blacks and greys are used by the police in unmarked cars to blend in, Porsche Audi and BMW need to come up with some more interesting colours. Look how many people want Saphire blue when it's available, how hard can it be to put that colour in the factory now? I would have had Saphire if it was available free or not. If I'm spending this amount I want a wolf in wolfs clothing not a bland looking car that blends in. That's my opinion, apologies if it offends anyone, we all have different ideas and opinions of what's good, this is mine. Not wrong and maybe not right.

Simon your comments aren't offensive at all. Have you played the car colour game with the kids on the motorway? White black and silver usually win, its just how things are these days. I don't think the colours are a bad lot just plying to the masses.
White turbo with red interior now collected!!
