I think you have been misinformed, It's Agate Grey and no way could I detect a brown hue otherwise I would not have chosen it. It contrasts well with a white exterior. The carbon pack looks lovely with it. Black for me is too hard, almost old fashioned.
I have to be honest and say when we saw the agate grey interior leather sample in the Porsche Configuration room it definitely had a brown hue to it. We switched from Agate Grey to Black interior as a consequence.
There are plenty of pics of both agate grey metallic paint and agate grey interior on the web. My 981 in normal daylight conditions : interior plastics in agate do look brownish whereas the paint only has a tinge of brown in very bright light. The leather outer sections of my seats in agate are slightly less brown than the plastics.
The white Cayman that I saw had full Agate leather and I really didn't pick the brown hue up. Maybe there is a subtle difference between the plastics and the leather trim. Im going full leather and feel sure it will be fine with white. I really don't want to go black. There needs to be more colour options!

I think that agate leather does look less brown than the plastics - probably due to way in which light reflects off plastic compared to leather.
The plastic will have an antioxidant additive in it to stabilise it so subtle differences could occur. Even from batch to batch.

Sent a picture of an agate grey car when the open doors were photographed in the showroom, they look brownish and very different to the seat edges, as you may have got your car by now how does the agate look and feel?
