So my just-about-a-year-old Turbo, at approx 4670 miles asked for 1L oil top-up.

Mine did that about the same mileage, but asked for a quart!

Looks like the newer models have figured out the metric system :)

We had a Merc diesel once which used a quart or two daily, complained to the rep and he said it would be fine once run in.

Sure enough in the fifth year it stopped using oil completely, then we sold it.

Lovely old engines, they were used all round the world and ran for ever given clean fuel and oil changes. OM 352 A iirc.

I wondered if it meant an American quart; quart fell out of use in uk even before the drift to metric units but is still common in the US.

Put a litre in anyway and all was well.

10k miles and not a drop used. Incidentally, I went to dip yesterday and was surprised by the lack of a dipstick. Not checked the 718 yet - it has 4k on it. The last boxster used to have a really long dipstick accessible from the rear boot.

Our OPC supplied a free litre of oil for both cars btw.

I did notice there's a recommendation for a 5W-50 in the book. Has anyone found this with a Porsche A40 Approval?

There are a lot of vehicles out there with no dip stick.

There are probably a lot of drivers out there who have never used a dip stick or don't know how to.

I would prefer to have a dip stick.

I'm not quite sure where you'd put it in an engine with a dry sump.
