LOL LOL LOL
Ha ha! Maybe on a Cayenne, but not a Macan in my opinion.
And in fact on a 911, I think standard 19" wheels look just great! Wink

The only reason so many go for 21" wheels is because Porsche do not offer 22" wheels

Thumbs Up Clap

Absolutely! It's probably better they don't though or I'd end up with something like a Monster Truck LOL

Hi Retired, I follow your train of thought and agree entirely. But if people felt that strongly about handling we would all spec PASM and PVT and 21" wheels...

Not really because that would mean that handling was the only
criteria. My thought was that in many instances it seems that it doesn't appear
to feature as a consideration at all. There is always likely to be a trade-off
between potentially conflicting criteria; handling, comfort, aesthetics, cost etc.

In my case I did think quite hard about Torque Vectoring,
drove a car at Silverstone which was equipped with the system, and one without,
and to be honest couldn't tell it was there and couldn't see the point in
spending the money. This might have been due to my unfamiliarity with the car,
but I'm there again shortly and will try to have another go. Maybe this time I
will notice it now I am familiar with car through a few months ownership. I
read a recent contribution on this with interest.

Sports Chrono gives the car a harder edge beyond sport
setting. When in the mood and conditions permit quite like having the
suspension in Sports + with engine / transmission in Sports. Essential? Not quite, but would specify again
on 3litr petrol or Turbo.

As far as the 21"wheels are concerned I am inclined to
believe there is a significant element of sales bull in the literature, and any
gains are likely to be marginal. I might put 21" on my next Macan, but if I do
it will be for cosmetic reasons.

To be fair, I spec 21" wheels because they look the nuts. I've specced PASM and Air but to be honest, after coming from BMW and their legendary run-flats I could drive a steamroller with steel wheels and still feel more comfortable.

It used to be 'Go faster stripes and a tiger tail tied to the aerial' so I suppose 21"wheels do serve a purpose.LOL

Recognise that. Bought a 535D and only kept it a few months, ride was truly appalling. Went well though, at least in the dry.

Looks as if we need to get the "weights" of the wheel/tyre combos and can then make a judgement.
But, if we are getting to that degree of detail then surely we should all be speccing PCCB........

I've just had a search through the official Porsche approved used car locator.
Findings are:
56 used Macans of all types, 2.0l to turbo.
...
9 with standard suspension
3 with air and PASM
1 with PASM only
...

56 - 9 - 3 - 1 = 43. What kind of suspension did the other 43 have?

This topic has been done to death.

For smooth ride, then 18"'s and 19"'s with Air and PASM are da bomb.

21" look the best but will lower the ride quality (especially if you live in areas where the roads are not silky smooth).

As for the "performance option", if you are outdriving the standard tyres on the public roads, then there is something very very wrong with you.
If you are outdriving the Macan tyres on a race track, then you in the wrong car.

As for those horrible "boy racer" blacked out rims on the GTS, dont get me started. But then I am over 30 years old so have a modicum of taste.
