I'd be blaming all the forum members who insist that a hole in the roof is a "must have".

WD40 is petroleum / hydrocarbon based. I would not spray it on any rubber I wanted to keep as original (but I do like martinw's flowchart )

Just an update on this issue - OPC ordered the special Porsche lubricant for the runners [it has a part number so don't use WD40] "still not happy with the results" so a new motor is now on order for the Pano roof, glad I took it in now!
they also found a screw in the rear tyre, so I am claiming on my W & T ins or this!

Mine has done the same thing and I had to 'help' it to close, mind your fingers! It would appear that it has a sensor so that the sunroof wouldn't chop a child's head off or the like, that being the case I really cannot see what good a new motor will do. I am going to try a thin smear of silicon lubricant on the edge of the deflector that meets the sunroof.

Cheers Zippy for explaining how to fix the "Roof that wont shut" problem.

My wife will be open it without the fear of never closing it again.

I agree, I cant see there being a "faulty" motor in a batch of 2,000,000! but let me say there is a Porsche order code for the "special" lubricant so be careful not to void an warranty claim by spraying WD40 everywhere!!! :)
