Many starts today. Not one clunk.

I tried some off throttle pull-aways.
I tried some manual deliberately into 2nd before 10mph
I did a full bore LC.
(Twice actually, because it's a laugh)
I tried with manually locking the doors first.

Not once did I get a spurious clunk.

Maybe it affects the diesel only. Or maybe the petrol engine is so loud, you can't hear it!

I'm still convinced that it is a solonoid related to start/stop as there is a very similar sound just as the engine is cut. Having said that, I don't think I've checked to see if it goes away when start/stop is disabled. I'll try that...

the noise doesn't go away with the start/stop disabled. nor does it go away with the park assist features turned off. it happens at precisely 16kph (10mph) which is the same speed which the reversing camera goes off

it does seem bizarre that
a) most owners don't report this noise, just an unlucky few of us seem to hear it
b) porsche would build cars that make a clicking noise every time the car takes off- a very poor design feature if it is indeed standard in all Macans

Never had it on my nov 14 diesel and I am very sensitive to noises, creaks and wrattles etc. Hope it is not on my turbo.YorkshireDave2016-07-08 07:31:35

Can't be the case or everybody would report it. Have you spoken to OPC or a technician?

Nope, I don't get any of that.

Not in any of the Macans I've driven/owned. I'd certainly notice!

I get it also and i had it tested extensively by West London OPC - who came to the same conclusion as what was stated in this thread (ie: the dynamic mounts of the engine engaging)...

I must have missed the full explanation of that.

Which Macan model has dynamic engine mounts?

Dynamic Engine Mounts does not exist on any Macan. This is a 911 rear-end motor thingy only. Whoever said that DEM is in the Macan must have mixed it up with some other thing in the engine bay.

For the topic: I have never heard this click sound in any Macan. Not in my current Turbo nor in the GTS I had.

This is DEM in 911, which was a part of the Sport Chrono Package.

That's what I thought Luke, but ricksta68 restated what the OPC said after "extensively" testing. Thought there might have been a fuller explanation that I missed.
