My brother runs his old Renault 4 on 98 - apparently makes a huge difference to its performance.
Used to have 2016 Macan Turbo PHCKCL70
Previously a 2014 Macan Turbo.
Now a 2021 Tesla Model 3 LR

I suppose it also depends on how long you plan to keep your car. I you change your car ever 2 years you will probably not have a problem using the wrong spec. or cheapest fuel.

No ethanol and from a single source. Good distribution too but a little too far away for a weekly fill up. I wish some oil company would do something in Blighty...

Sorry for the thread resurrection but I’m collecting a 2017 Macan Turbo in a few weeks and whilst I intend to use super unleaded, if it’s not available for whatever reason I assume it won’t do any harm to use normal premium 95 RON fuel?

I have been looking at the good to know app (ready for my GTS arriving hopefully in April), it states: “If the recommended fuel is not available, unleaded fuels without metallic additives with octane numbers of 91 RON/82.5 MON can be used in an emergency. However, this could reduce performance and increase fuel consumption.”

I think it is good advice

This is the reply I received from Porsche UK in December last year when I asked the same question regarding my 2020 Macan S:-

My question: “I have recently purchased a used 2020 model Macan S, and would like you to clarify which unleaded fuel octane rating is recommended for the 3.0 litre engine, as in the Drivers’s Manual it states 95 octane, but on the inside of the fuel filler flap it states 98 octane in large font, with 95 octane in smaller font.

Does this mean that I can use either 95 or 98 octane, without any harm to the engine or performance no matter which fuel I use?“

Porsche UK answer: “I confim that yes, you can use either 95 or 98 octane, without any harm to the engine. However, 98 octane may give a little bit more performance but not a lot.”
