Never having owned a Porsche before, I'm not sure whether my query is a general to the wider Porsche range or just the Macan. Whenever I start the car, the radio comes on. How do you keep the radio (or any other media source) switched off until you want to use it? If you press the left hand knob in for a few seconds the entire PCM switches off and does not switch on when the car is next started. If you briefly depress the left hand knob it mutes the media source. However, when the car is next started, the music comes on (ie it does not remember it was muted). Rotating the left hand knob turns the volume down but, again, when the car is re-started the music comes through at "normal" volume again. I must be missing something and would be grateful for any advice! Many thanks!

Normal Porsche audio operation I am afraid. It is a nuisance that the radio always comes back on when ignition turned back on.

Yep, Porsche-ism I'm afraid. I find it distinctly irritating and what must be a very easy fix for Porsche GMBH

One suggestion has been to switch the setting to AUX, so when you re-start the car there is no sound & when you want the radio etc. you just hit the alternative setting.
Sold: 2014 Macan Diesel S in Jet Black.
Sold: 2016 Macan GTS in Jet Black.
Cancelled: 2017 Macan Turbo + PP in Jet Black for a RRS.
Ordered: 2019 992 C4S in Jet Black.
To be ordered 2019 Macan Turbo / Turbo S / Turbo + PP. Yeah, it’ll be in Jet Black!

Thanks for this suggestion, will try that. However, as a new customer to the brand, this feels a really retrograde step in comparison to BMW etc.

I tend to find the ability of the gadgets in almost inverse proportion to the marque's prestige and price bracket. I imagine cars from the orient have all the gadgets to coax someone into choosing it. Who remembers when BMWs came without a radio as standard and a Blaupunkt was extra?

My God, that's going back some, my dad bought a 520i back in 1989 and we upgraded to a Blaupunkt!

Me! I think the steering wheel was an extra!

My old man had 7 BMW's in a row.. I got him to go for the BMW 525i as it came with twin exhausts!Confused That was the new style (G reg I think) - he had a 528i D reg, what a car that was in it's day!
Diesel S Ordered 07/12/2013 - Delivered 29/01/15 - Sold 15/06/16.
New Range Rover Vogue arrived 21/07/16.

We had a red 520i (G reg) and I wish he had gone for the 525i for the very reason you point out! It was nice, if a little underpowered, he put me on the insurance even though I was a teenager then so can't complain.
