Maxi! Ah fond memories of the first car I got to drive on my own....MTC 750R....my Mum's beigey 1500 HL ......you could fold the rear seats right flat....ideal when you're 17 1/2 yrs old and in the prime of life

My mum also had a beige! I think I would have been about 8 to 10 though so less need for fully flat back seats

Nope this is a Maxi



Looks in much better condition than the one I had (which was a couple of years newer)

Wern' Maxi's the first mainstram car with:-

(1) hatchback
(2) with fold down back seats
(3) with 5 gears


...but 5th was always a lot further across than you thought.....! (crunch!)

Fond memories also of going to weekend Kart meetings with a Kart up on the roof bars, boot full of tools and kit and sleeping overnight with my old man / machanic!

Never drove a Maxi but whilst on the with same make I could never get used to following an 1800 Land Crab.

There were definitely 5 gears in there and sometimes you could find all 5 in a journey

later ones also had a "air suspension" - Hydragas

Earlier ones were Hydrolastic (unconnected units - all fantastic..........when they worked!)
