May be worth a try resetting PCM.

Talked to the dealer today and sent them some photos showing the problem screens. They checked the software version of my car and I have the latest version so it's going in on Monday for them to have a look at. I haven't done the reset, thought I'd leave it till they have had a look at it.

Latest update, no problems found with the software so the factory recommended that the dashboard wiring harness was replaced, which was duly done while I was away on holiday in April. Today when I got in the car the display was again monochrome, so the wiring harness change didn't fix it. The car was due to be collected tomorrow anyway as the dealer forgot to download some info they need to make the warranty claim back to Porsche, so now they are keeping it to have another look for the problem. Trouble is, it's fixed itself again, if you turn the car off and back on again it stays monochrome, but if you get out, lock it then turn it on it's cured, so I suspect a software bug rather than hardware. Will keep you posted on progress

I'd have thought a PCM reset through the Car menu is unlikely to clear a bug like this. More chance of a battery disconnect doing it, but they probably did that when replacing the dashboard wiring harness.
Bugs like this are very frustrating. Often the fault is only cured after multiple visits to the dealer for replacement of components on a trial and error basis.
Unfortunately, the more 'tech' we have in our cars the more chance there is of things like this happening. As we know, some other manufacturers are having huge problems with this sort of fault, leaving owners very angry and dissatisfied.
Good luck with getting it sorted BBB.

Sounds like a good idea, I think it's going to be a long job, but at least this time I've got a Cayenne S rather than a Merc as my courtesy car!

Well at least that's something. But it's not your car. I hope it gets sorted soon.

At least you're putting mileage on someone else's car!
