I understand that cars with HID xenon bulbs must have self-levelling suspension. Unless you can fit both (it can be done on some cars) your car will be illegal and should fail an MOT. Do halogen Macans have this?
The headlights need to have a leveling mechanism. This is usually achieved with the headlight itself. However, if a car has self leveling suspension that takes care of the requirement for the light to be leveled.
My Disco 3 had self leveling air suspension which took care of the requirement. My Macan with Xenons included the leveling in the light unit.

Hi Retired, I understand that but do Halogens on Macans have any form of self-levelling, therefore making them suitable for legal upgrade to HID? I just don't know.

It all depends upon the wording within the document, it may well be that any non Porsche approved part fitted invalidates the warranty and that would be irrespective if a later defect of some non attributable component develops.
That is, it does not have to be related to invalidate the warranty, what I am saying is that it could be simply the action of underaking the fitting of the lighting kit is enough to invalidate the whole warranty.
That seems to be the case that has been put forward by various OPC's, yes I would agree it does not make sense but there has to be something within the wording of the warranty that is causing the reaction from the dealers.
Do we have a Lawyer amongst us who will look into the warranty document?
The warranty reaction in the UK does not seem to be replicated in the USA or so the USA forum indicates but there again they have by far better consumer laws than we do.

The reaction from dealers is because they want to sell you a Porsche part, upgrade or completely new car!!

Having run my 997 for 4 years with aftermarket LED rear lights most OPC will take a pragmatic approach - ie if your gearbox goes it does not matter if you have aftermarket rear lights, BUT it will not pass the 2 year inspection and the car has to be 100% standard in order to renew the warranty.
Personally I was happy with running the aftermarket lights as I knew I could swap them over in 5 minutes but I would not run non N rated tyres etc for fear of them not covering the gearbox etc. You would be VERY brave to fit an aftermarket HID kit.

Any modification to the vehicle can adversely affect or even disable safety functions. Unskilled maintenance work performed during the warranty period may invalidate your right to claim under warranty.
