Not surprised, that would drive me nuts! The strange thing is that there doesn't seem to be too much logic about which cars are affected. Despite all the theory about what sort of driving causes the issue, it seems to affect people a little at random.

The EA189 engine is EU5 so the upgrade is not comparable with the upgrade to Macan EU6 engines.

My wife's Tiguan has been upgraded and, so far, performance and MPG seem unaffected.

The OPC advised me to give it a run every week which i have (approx 100 miles of motorway) and use non supermarket fuel which i have (BP). To be quite honest, the whole Porsche experience is poor, i didn't expect to buy a Porsche and it be returning to the OPC literally every other week. The OPC advised me to call Porsche assist and they will recover my vehicle and source a courtesy car. The courtesy car offered, a Mini. Is this really acceptable, i bought a Porsche because i want to drive a Porsche, not a mini. Really starting to test my patience the whole experience !!!
Seems very odd to have so many dpf issues. What was the build date of your car ? I guess that if this was commonplace we would have had loads of posts on this forum and other forums. Mine was delivered May 2015 and touchwood never had any dpf issues in nearly 16000 miles. Never noticed a passive regen occurring let alone having to do a hard regen. Most of my daily driving is short trips. Just hoping the software upgrade does not bugger things up. I always use Shell normal diesel although no idea what the OPC have put in with the free tankfull supplied last week. I also had no issues with my first Macan either which I ran for a year between May 14 and May 15.

My DPF light came on 2 weeks ago, regen drive (>2000rpm) and it went out. Came on again yesterday having done 2 half hour drives the evening before. So I rang them at the Tewkesbury today to discuss. The service man felt that the system was not ideal since the driver has no way of knowing how much soot is in the DPF. Although I have done the manual regen twice and the light has gone out after about 6 minutes, this has probably not cleared the filter although it has done enough to get rid of the warning light. Needs a longer run, presumably when it wants to regen next time. So when it comes on, go for a longer run, even after the light has gone out - I will see whether that sorts it for a prolonged period because I had no trouble until over 3000 miles.

Seems odd to get dpf warnings after only 3000 miles . I'm now on 17500 miles and touchwood still never seen a regen occur . Although my normal daily drive is short town drives I do make sure at the weekend if we go somewhere to give it some welly on the Motorway where possible. When possible I switch to sport mode on the motorway in order to go above 2000 rpm.

mark-yorkshire wrote: Mon Jun 26, 2017 5:50 pm Just got my Macan Diesel back from Porsche Leeds. Following my first service last month it today had the following warranty/campaign work carried out:
1. Re-program DME control unit - campaign number WG22
2. Replace cap for tank filler neck - campaign number WF453.
3. Replace missing AC low pressure valve cap

Excellent service. Car collected from my office 18 miles away from Leeds. Given a new 5 series estate as a courtesy car but did not need as my car returned in same day.

Initial impressions that PDK smoother and steering lighter . Will see if the software update affects mpg , adblue consumption and dpf regeneration.

As compensation for my inconvenience Porsche Leeds filled my diesel tank back to full and it was nearly empty when it left me this morning so that must be at least £75 worth.
So 2 weeks after I had the DME software upgrade I have tonight had the dreaded DPF warning whilst driving home. Now at 15700 miles and at no time noticed a passive regen occurring let alone a hard regen. Not had any performance issues . Will need to call OPC tomorrow. Here is the warning:

I didn't see it myself, but apparently "watchdog" last night followed the owner of an A4 who had whatever NOz upgrade was due on his car. Rolling road full tests before and after confirmed that power was down, mpg up and so on......
It'll be interesting to see what they have to say......😳

Not noticed any difference in performance or mpg since the DME upgrade but do wonder if adblue consumption will increase during colder weather and will be well annoyed if dpf warnings become a regular occurrence after having had none for over 2 years. Might go out for a run tonight to see if it clears but one part of me thinks why should I have to 😡

After watching watchdog and doing some reading to me there is a clear issue with software upgrade and limp mode cars in the VW group.
From what I have read there have been millions of upgrades but only thousands of reported problems.
VW group have a lot to answer for and diesel owners really need no more bad publicity and this is just not helping at all.
This upgrade to my knowledge is not a security or safety upgrade and does not have to be done. Just say No......

Well just been out for a 30 min high speed Motorway run. The DPF warning disappeared after only 2 mins but did a good run anyway. Must say it is hard keeping above 2000 rpm in a diesel as even in sport mode it is necessary to keep dropping down a gear. Waste of a gallon of diesel. Will see if the warning comes back again within a short time.
