Must say it is hard keeping above 2000 rpm in a diesel as even in sport mode it is necessary to keep dropping down a gear. Waste of a gallon of diesel. Will see if the warning comes back again within a short time.
According to the service guy I spoke to you have done the right thing by doing a longer run, even after the DPF light has gone out. Needs at least 20 mins, even though the light goes out in a much shorter time than this. I found it easiest to drive in manual otherwise, as you say, it is difficult to keep >2000rpm

+1
I don't own a diesel but others I know have been told exactly the same.

But the key is, the dpf computer thingy must be in regeneration mode; otherwise you could drive for a year a 2000 rpm without making a blind bit of difference!
To clarify ; The 15 /20 mins at 2000 rpm is only valid if the warning light / service warning is lit up.

So are you saying once the warning goes off the regen mode stops ? What would be helpful is a display showing the amount of clogging in the filter. Likewise it would be helpful having a display showing the number of litres of adblue still left in the tank.

If only.......how simple it would be, in theory, to have a " clogometer" to show the % of ash loading......and even easier to have an adblue level guage...not rocket science.....☹️

All this pi**ing diesel down the drain driving up and down to regen the DPF makes a nonsense of the 35+ mpg the diesel gets.

Must say I did feel like that last night. As it was the first time in 2 years it was acceptable but just hope its not now going to be a regular occurrence.

So here's a question: Mine's due its first service in Aug; do I ask them not to carry out the DME update? Has anyone else done this? I am fairly sure that the will quote 'warranty issues' if I ask them to ignore it!

Not directly relevant, but I've declined the NOX update on our Yeti. There's too much uncertainty at the moment about the effects on performance, etc, despite VW's assurances that 'independent inspection' confirms the mod will have no adverse effect.

Must say I cannot detect any affect on performance or mpg but very suspicious that after never having a DPF warning in 2 years I get a warning a couple of weeks after the DME software upgrade. Will it happen again ?
