....but (sadly) it may not be regenerating - the light has to be on for it to burn hotter and get rud of the soot. A long run won’t hurt, and is always good fun, but won’t necessarily have the desired effect on the dpf.
How right you were Paul, out on a run today and a yellow sign came up Engine Control fault, Consult dealer, Driving permitted, I am going to assume this is connected to the DPF ?
If it’s the dpf light then yes. When it’s on (and only when it’s on) drive for at least 20 mins at 2000 rpm (even if the light goes off before the 20 mins is up)
You also need to have a decent level of fuel for the procedure to work. The only thing it won’t tell you is the current soot load and whether or not you’ve missed a regeneration cycle previously.

Would it be good if Porsche modified their system to give warning in the MFD that a regeneration drive was required within say the next 100 miles and that the driver could then initiate regen when they were in a position to start the regen?

👍
...and / or a guage somewhere to show the current soot load along with Adblue level.

The dealership can certainly access the soot load level and then provoke a regen using their magic diagnostic box, so the information is already there just waiting to be read.

☹️
But were you able to carry on driving for 20 mins / 2000 rpm etc etc......?.... If so, then you should have no issues....

Haven’t had the opportunity yet, won’t use the car until the weekend where I’ll give it a good spanking on the motorway

What’s the connection between the heated seats / steering wheel and the DPF!?

The only thing I can think of - slower driving as potentially icy or colder air so exhaust may be colder and burns off less soot

Might help a bit, but you’ll only carry out a true dpf regeneration if the light is back on......
