or got a better solution for protecting the rear bumper?

I actually bought one but haven't fitted it yet. Was thinking of getting it sprayed body colour and then fitting. I bought the black one for a black car. Had second thoughts after I bought it and it's just been sitting in my cupboard. I got it in winter too and it recommend fitting at 20 plus degrees or something like that.

I use a grip mat, just type it in Amazon.
I just lay it over the bumper when loading.
Offers far more protection than one of the guards you are contemplating

Yes - this is a good option. I did it on my Alpina and it protected it perfectly, and I am having it done to my GTS next week. XPEL is the toughest PPF to use.

I had a local guy put a Smartskin clear wrap on mine. They have templet cut sections for most high end cars but I wanted the wrap to cover right over the bumper down to the number plate so he made a one off special. Perfect and virtually invisible.

Just to add to the thread. Anyone in the north *Yorkshire. A detail company comes highly recommended for adding a bumper/lip XPEL cover to stop scratches etc.. (not a full rear bumper, just the overhanging lip of the bumper/bootlid)
the cost is reasonable as well. £42 fitted. This is the XPEL ultimate self healing stuff.
