Hoping for a 718 this time.
I was a bit concerned as it is showing an oil change at 19.3k and I may be a bit over that by the 19th.

Personally at the mileage you are racking up I would have had the oil changed at 10k

The counter argument, of course, is that doing 19000 miles in 15 months probably involves a good dose of nicely warned up, low engine stress motorway miles. Modern synthetic oils don't tend to break down under this type of motoring compared to short, stop-start journey where the oil isn't up to temp.
(But I did say we wouldn't start another running in / oil change debate So we'll just respect everyone's opinions!...even if I shall be following the advice given in the handbook)

That is true Paul.
Most of my mileage is for business and so is 100-200 miles at a pop on the motorway, so not stressed.
I would've been comfortably lower than 19.3k for the oil change but I did 220 each way on Saturday on the motorway taking a mate down to Dorchester to buy a lovely mint 06 MX5. As you say, nicely warmed cruise so little engine stress there.

I queried the service manager and was told that not only is it it not necessary, but there is an oil condition monitor in the system to alert with any oil quality issues. I'll trade up to a new model after 2 years, about 14/15k miles anyway. I carry a spare litre so ready to top up at any time. So I'll not bother, saving about Β£400.

I'm intending to keep my GTS for about four years or around 75k miles, so I changed the oil and filter after 1000miles. Expensive and maybe a waste of money but it gives me piece of mind. There were some glistening very tiny particles of metal in the filter.

If you are keeping it 4 years, I would assume the car will always be in warranty, so as long as you follow Porsche servicing schedules there really is no need to do anything else.

Perfect timing for the oil change as remaining range was 100 miles (19170 since new).

What's this then: an engine burning oil at 1L per 2.5k miles and then nothing! Difficult to imagine what's going on with cylinders/gaskets that can be considered "normal". I've experienced little oil burn over the 12 K miles so far but always on the lookout!
